Karen Kuhnert Writing

Writing is not my best gift, but listening deeply and sharing what I hear is something I am clearly called to do. My thanks to all who let me communicate authentically, those who let me preach with my white board, make visual connections on the chalk board, read my tweets and take in the images and prayers I offer.

While writing is not my best gift I have been published in a textbook and several magazines and resources some of which are below and across.

KAIROS Spirited Reflections

Inside the Spiritual Care Giver's Guide

Karen Kuhnert Fetal Loss

The Chapter intends to highlight best practice in Spiritual Care response to miscarriage and stillbirth while highlighting the process for conducting evidence based research for students in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) on their way to Professional Ministry.

Bob Cardinal Aboriginal Helper

It was a privilege to participate in the Pipe Ceremony and lighting of the Sacred Fire at the TRC Edmonton National Event. Leading ceremony was Elder Bob Cardinal who I knew from the 2007 CPE Conference. The 2007 CPE conference papers were turned into this book.

After several years of intensive reading and hearing stories of our Lutheran Church in Canada I came to notice troubling disconnects in our story-telling and also to experience a sadness among our people as they reflected on "today and tomorrow" in light of the "glory days of the past."

In contrast, as I encounter our stories and our people I am increaingly seeing life-giving connections, pathways of promise for today and feel hope for the future.

Some are wont to say "If Only," and to either cling to the past or reject it outright. This article encourages a position of "Only If" inviting readers to look again at the past in a way that renews and strengthens identity for the sake of the future. The ways of Pre-Canada Iroquois Confederacy were with me as I wrote.

This article in the Canada Lutheran, the ELCIC National Magazine was part of a Feature on Right Relations with Indigenous Peoples. Mark MacDonald, Canada's first National Indigenous Bishop was the cover (see below)

In this Article I tried to help Lutheran readers recognize that they are not alone in feeling apprehensive about entering more deeply into Right Relations.  In fact - everyone is feeling apprehensive at some level! Still, it is for us to get into this work of the Spirit that moves us all - aboriginal and non-Aboriginal. This was written on return from the SLCC
